Today, I had the opportunity to spend some time with TV host, author and personal development specialist, ANITA WASHINGTON.
Throughout the call, Anita shared insights into her own life which ultimately led to writing two amazing books ‘Family Is Not Everything’ and ‘7 Simple Steps to Beat Emotional Baggage’.
One of the main focal points Anita and I talked about, was the impact our limiting beliefs have on our quality of life. We all have the ability to identify and transform our negative beliefs into positive thoughts, which in turn have a positive impact our behaviors and leads us to a healthier, happier life.
So, with that in mind, if you find that you regularly talk yourself out of pursuing your dreams, Anita suggests that you stop and ask the question - who’s voice is it that I’m hearing? By asking this question, you may find that you’re limiting your personal growth by listening to another person’s opinion about what you can achieve, rather than trusting yourself and pursuing your goals.
Part of this conversation included discussion around first identifying, and then moving away from toxic people and their negative behaviors and beliefs. As an example, if there is physical or mental abuse coming from someone inside your inner circle, then by distancing yourself from them, despite how difficult it may be, then you give yourself permission to begin focusing on positive self-talk, surrounding yourself with people who help you grow, and by doing so, you begin healing emotionally and physically.
