My Future Business Interview with PAZ ELLIS
#memoir #fiction #pazellis
Hi, and welcome to the show!
On today’s My Future Business Show I have the pleasure of spending time with author PAZ ELLIS.
Originally from New Jersey and now living in Florida, Paz has written a memoir called ‘Plantains and The Seven Plagues’, and a fiction book called ‘Just Finn’.
Plantains and The Seven Plagues shares Paz’s experiences growing up in a loving biracial home. This memoir tells the story of living with her Cuban father who was longing for his birth country, and his family from whom he was separated from due to communism, and about her much-loved mother, who suffered from chronic depression.
This memoir is a well-balanced account of Paz’s life with her family, and details not only the struggles, but also the joyful times that Paz has been fortunate to have experienced with her family.
During the call, Paz explains why she began writing shortly after her mother passed. Paz shares how she felt angry about her mum going away, and that she didn’t get to say all of the things that she wanted to say. This was a raw experience, but one that was absolutely necessary to help her work through this time.
The thing that stood out for me, was how Paz used writing to help her deal with the pain of her loss, and how she felt better after writing it all down. There truly is power in the pen.
Paz’ new fiction book ’Just Finn’ was inspired by her brother who lives with Asperger Syndrome. This is a fascinating view point where real-life experiences play a part as fictional characters. A must read for any fiction lover.
