On today’s My Future Business Show I have the pleasure of talking with privacy and security expert PETER WARMKA.

Now the founder and CEO at Counter Intelligence Institute, Peter is a former Senior Intelligence Officer with the CIA who would successfully breach the security of target organizations overseas as part of his role.

I was fortunate to hear Peter talk about many of his life’s experiences that led him to becoming a privacy and security expert. Peter’s story was so captivating, that it played out like a Hollywood movie script. It was exciting, risky and often fraught with uncertainty and danger.

During this fascinating call, Peter shares how individuals and organizations become targets, how information is collected on them through social media and other resources, and some of the elicitation techniques used against them for additional information collection.

Peter also talked about how the information that is gathered is then utilized to design the actual social engineering approach to breach security via e-mail (spear phishing), SMS (smishing), telephonic (Vishing using spoof calling) and face-to-face interaction.

The thing that stood out for me, is just how many ways there are to find out almost anything about you, or your organization, and just how effective they are at doing it.

That said, with his organization Counter Intelligence Institute, Peter is on a mission to help you defend yourself against attempted security breaches that can result in theft of proprietary information and personal data.
